In March 2010, the State Administrative Tribunal suspended psychologist Viviana Angela Bell of Perth, Australia for seven months.

Bell admitted to having started a personal relationship with a male patient, buying a house with him and signing a notice of intention to marry.

The patient had come to therapy seeking counseling for a marriage breakup and stated that between 2005 and 2008, he paid for a trip to Melbourne, gifts for her three children, housing expenses and presents—he claimed to have spent thousands of dollars on her and children before discovering she was in relationships with two other men as well.

In addition to her suspension, she was ordered to undertake counseling regarding “proper boundaries with male clients.”
